Allen soon became one of Finch Hatton’s guns on shoots, including the Prince of Wales’ 1928 safari. Managing a farm, Allen would take guests of the owner on shoots, bringing him to the attention of Bror von Blixen-Finecke and Denys Finch Hatton. In 1927 Allen followed his older brothers to Kenya.
